Preferrably these beta testers should have large libraries of DVDs and currently experiencing slowdowns when bringing up the DVD Library. Also, the software is designed for Windows Vista Media Center or Windows 7 Media Center (sorry MCE'05 guys - time to upgrade!). Please reply here with your system configuration and estimated number of movies in your library if you are interested in helping me test this software. I expect to push the beta out on or around the 25th.

I've got a few Media Center's in the house and can't remember all the specs, if you need them I'll get them at a later date. I have approximately 100 DVD movies in my library. The reason for needing system configuration information is that I need to test the code paths for single processor systems, where as all of mine are either dual or quad core, and the DVD Library does not show up in a Hyper-V environment, so I can't fake it :( Out of curiosity, how long is your wait when starting your DVD Library with 100 movies?

That one that is a single core intel CPU (HP Z558 DEC, 3.2GHz P4 I think). I'm not sure on an exact time, I can time it later tonight when I get home. What I do know is that its long enough to be really annoying, but not long enough to make me stop using it. =) I'm also beta testing an application for someone else that (by accident?) seems to speed up the DVD Library for me. I'll test it with and without the program and give you times. Also, you can create a fake folder structure in order to make media center think you have more movies if you wanted to test it with a ton. All you have to do is create a VIDEO_TS folder and drop in a (fake or real) VIDEO_TS.IFO file. Media Center then thinks you have a real movie there. ![]() Registered Member #4366 Joined: Tue Sep 18 2007, 09:09PM: posts: 45 | Quick update: preliminary results of my testing on multiple machines. I have 480 movies online at all times which sits on a hybrid 802.11G wireless / Gigabit wired network, all Media Centers use the same network shares as the result, so the test set is the same. Hard drives on the server were pre-spun up. Times were measured by starting from clicking the dvd library button to final DVD cover being rendered of all 480 movies. All OSes are Vista Ultimate with all current patches, architecture varies per machine. Config #1: Intel Atom 330 (my mini Media Center toy) x86 with 2GB 533MHz Memory, pulling across 802.11G clocks in at 27 seconds. Used to be 4:13. Config #2: Core 2 Duo E6600 with 8GB memory x64, across Gigabit clocks in at 14 seconds. Used to be 2:10. Config #3: Core 2 Quad Q6600 with 8GB memory x64, across Gigabit clocks in at 16 seconds. Used to be 2:14. Config #4: Core 2 Duo E6750 with 8GB memory x64, direct connect to RAID array for storage server, clocks in at 2 seconds. Used to be 0:48. Tomorrow I will be testing a single core Athlon 64 3400+ x86 machine and a Core 2 Duo E4500 x86 machine as well.

Library load times have in fact now been reduced to 10 seconds. Before the app, DVD Library took 15 seconds to load my 110 movies. 5 Seconds is 5 seconds, I'll take it. =) Great job so far, keep up the good work. Can't wait for the DVDidNet function to work. I want to make it plug able so that I can include it in other things in the future, or even run as a standalone client. I've done some testing this week, but I can't find any DVDID information that you don't already have on the site, so when I go to post the data it tells me it already exists. Do you allow anonymous posting of DVDIDs?

In the future, please make your DVD request via the Forum.
For "I Love You, Man" you will need to follow place the DVDXML id locally to your system and modify your id and cover art.
This is due to the information not being available in Microsoft's MCE database NOT DVDXML.com.
See http://www.dvdxml.com/p/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?1725 for the finer details.
